Riverdale Season 2 Episode 1 Review

Co-Host Chris

Now that I have let the first episode of season two for Riverdale settle with me I wanted to go into a little more detail about how I felt about the episode. First thing that I truly enjoyed was the opening. The recap wasn’t one of those where they retell the entire previous season. They actually made it to where if you were to be just joining the show this season you would be able to follow along. They also made the start of the show feel very much like a comic book show with the bright colors while still¬† making this feel like a real show.

The show also showed that while the kids are all friends that they do have their own lives and before and after the tragedy that occurs in the show they are going about their lives and it is not one of those shows where they are always together and nothing happens without the others knowing. Personally I think that this is hinting at future issues that may arise when a person is not able to be found. Another thing that is different for this show and even this season is that you have three very strong female lead characters in Betty, Veronica, and Cheryl. They also have the lead singer Josie of Josie and the Pussycats who was not in the episode but is also a strong female character. This for me is a huge step as they are showing a more modern feel to life today.

Lastly the show did not have any slow moments and made me stay intrigued the entire time. Some times shows will have those heart to heart conversations where everything slows down and you start to get bored a little. Riverdale will have those moments in small doses and it is scattered throughout the show. It gives you great substance while keeping the show exciting and fun. I cannot wait to watch the next episode while also talking to everyone about it too. See you all next week!
